KEEN INSIGHTS COMING SOON

It is sometimes difficult to access a computer in order to update this blog as I am back on the road. My Christmas visit with family in Redding, CA. was good. After that, I flew to San Diego where they were getting battered by all that rain. Perhaps you heard about it on the news. The rain plagued pretty much all of California and Arizona too. We left Southern Cal in a downpour that continued through Arizona and into New Mexico. We drove and drove until we got to Kansas City, where I spent four days before making the short trip north to St. Joseph, Missouri. That is where I am now. This is the town where the outlaw Jesse James was shot and killed in 1882. This was also a major point-of-origin for the Pony Express. I think it was kind of like the current Federal Express tie-in to Memphis, Tennessee only much different. Actually, they say the Pony Express began here in 1860. Many businesses around here carry "Pony Express" in their name.
We are now getting what the weather folks here are calling an ice storm. This is something new for me. We sometimes get freezing rain in Idaho that usually quickly changes to snow, but this is supposed to be an all-night storm that will leave up to an inch and a half of ice on the ground. The morning commute tomorrow should be quite an adventure. It is now about five in the afternoon and about an eighth of an inch of ice has covered everything.
To those who like to check this blog from time to time, don't be discouraged. Soon I'll be making regular entries that feature copious amounts of the wit, wisdom and keen insight for which I am noted around the globe. In the meantime, these travel updates are pretty cool too aren't they?
